Frenchman Roman Foltz, has was appointed as the new head coach of AmaZulu following the departure of Brandon Tolter last week.
The club confirmed the news early Sunday morning, announcing the appointment of the 32-year-old former Marumo Gallants and Township Rollers coach.
“Amazulu Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of the duo of Romain Khalid Folz and Ayanda Dlamini as head coach and first assistant coach respectively, with effect from today until the end of the current (2022/23) season next June,” the statement read.
Folz was previously at Gallants for only a few months and was in charge of six games, drawing five and losing one, before he resigned.
AmaZulu leadership have hailed Romain Foltz for being a skilled tactician with an advanced analytical mind. AmaZulu Chairman, Sandile Zungu, said Foltz was the right man to bring back the team’s glory days.
“I repeat my personal promise to our fans that I will do everything in my power to bring back the glory days at AmaZulu. We are championship material, there is no doubt about that. We can and will challenge for trophies both domestically and continentally,” said Zungu. .
As for his part, Foltz said was happy with his new appointment, and he was ready for the challenge.
“I am looking to do the best work possible and to get the best result possible. We know we have a good team. We know it’s a big club. We know, it comes with a lot of responsibilities. We have a big amount of fans looking, looking at us and hoping for us to perform. So, we know what we have to do. We know the expectation, and the only thing we can say is that we’re going to give our very best to match the expectation of the people,” said Foltz.
AmaZulu lost to Richards Bay FC on their last match on a score line of 0-1 at the Moses Mabida stadium. They will face Orlando Pirates FC on Friday evening.
