The family of the rapper, Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi say they have moved on and have forgiven his killer, Sindisiwe Manqele, who was released on parole on Tuesday.

"We have forgiven her even though it is hard to forget. We do’ not know what happened on the day of the incident only her and flabba know," said family spokesperson, Tshepang Habedi , speaking to fray.news at their home in Alexandra North of Johannesburg on Tuesday.

Manqhele killed Habedi by stabbing him 37 times at his home in Alexandra in March 2015. A year later she was sentenced to 12 years in jail.

Habedi said Manqele was part of the family, and they forgave her so they too can move on.

“We had to move on as a family because if we dwell on the past and we hold grudges about the past, that means we can’t move on, so we needed to move on. We forgave her. She’s a family man.”

Habedi pleaded with community members to not try to harm Manqele.

"We would like to plead with Alexandra residents and his followers that they should make peace with it and not attack Sindisiwe.”

He said they had visited Manqele several times to reconcile and to make peace with her and where aware of the decision to release her before it was made public.

In a statement, the Department of Correctional Services said the decision to grant her parole was taken by the correctional Supervision and parole board after it assessed Manqele’s profile as submitted by the case -management committee and other material presented for the parole Consideration.
